Forget Pokémon GO, meet Chardonnay GO!
Forget Pokémon GO, meet Chardonnay GO!

Comedian mom Dena Blizzard posted a live video on Facebook where she spoofs on Pokémon GO. Meet Chardonnay GO! While everyone is running after their cellphone trying to catch Pokémons, Dena decided it's time for moms to have some fun too. And I don't think only moms would enjoy. In for a glass of Chardonnay? Go out and discover! :-)

Booyah: Bubble Football in Düsseldorf!

In 2014 we saw a supercool video of bubble football. We immediately decided we would need to try it out. And so we did... in Düsseldorf! (more…)

100 Years of Men's Underwear
Hundred Years of Men’s Underwear

Today's fashion ain't necessarily still hot tomorrow. Even when we're talking about what's underneath your outfit, there's a hot and a not. Meet a hundred years of men's underwear fashion! I just love YouTube channel Mode with their videos on fashion trends history. I guess everyone still remembers the first video they had on the history of women's fashion. When men's underwear popped up, I just had to have a small peek. :-) Funny to see how even what we wear dessous changes so rapidly. I too remember wearing boxers a few years ago. And I also remember that it was super unpractical. Getting the complete boxers in your jeans without the fabric being stuffed together. Memories... Thank god strings always were something 100% banned. (If you're reading this wearing a string: go change right now before someone notices. It's not too late yet.) Nowadays we're big fans of Australian brand Assiebum with their slogan 'If you doubt yourself, wear something else'. Now that's a statement. So how about you? Having a favorite can't-go-out-without underwear brand or is whatever that covers the junk good enough?

New Suit Supply Spring Summer Collection Teases With Toy Boys Campaign
New Suitsupply Spring Summer Collection Teases With Toy Boys Campaign

The new Spring Summer Suitsupply collection gets a remarkable launch with the Toy Boys-campaign. Presenting a world ran by women (girls!) with us men as small well-dressed creatures. We love suits. Every man should have a nice one laying in his closet, ready to wear for that one special occasion. Suitsupply always knows to surprise with more modern styles in its very classy range. Also with their new Toy Boys campaign that presents the Spring Summer 2016 collection, they know how to surprise. Shot by Carli Hermes in South Africa, beautiful lightly dressed women that play with their handsome well-dressed toy boys (or should we say playboys?) manage to set the tone for a ready-to-be-talked-about new fashion season in menswear. Have a look at the full collection below. It reminds me a bit of an earlier David Lachapelle's style of photography. Florian already sees himself as the guy that's sitting on the right boob while I'd like to be the man with the flower between his legs. Just talking about the styles of course. What's your favorite? And yes, we're still talking about the Suitsupply suits. Suit-up! :-)

Bali Dreaming: Sal Secret Spot Guesthouse
Bali Dreaming: Sal Secret Spot Guesthouse

If there are places on earth you can call paradise, Bali most definitely is one of those. A great guesthouse we stayed a few nights is Sal Secret Spot. Highly recommendable! When traveling to Bali our first stop on the map was the surfers area Bingin, at the South of the beautiful island. After spending the days at the beach, we planned to spent two nights at Sal Secret Spot, a lovely eco resort that's being surrounded by nature and quietness. Arriving in the evening, we were kindly welcomed and brought to the red room. This was going to be the JAF place for the upcoming nights. Time to drop our bags and to still have a refreshing Bali Bintang beer in the bar and to get ready for the night. The next day we powered-up by a delicious breakfast of muesli with banana, pineapple, pink dragonfruit and yoghurt, followed by egg white omelet with peppers, onions and mushrooms. A strong coffee and freshly squeezed orange juice got us ready to kick-off a great stay on Bali. Close to Sal Secret Spot, there's a bar that rents out scooters. We cheaply got one for the day and cruised in direction of Finn's Beach Club, a lovely hip beach that's being surrounded by rocky hills. The perfect spot for cocktails, chilling, a dip in the water and all kind of waterboard activities. Do watch out if you decide to cruise on the scooter: put some sunscreen on your shoulders. Ours already got an intense tan at day one. :-) In the evening we walked from Sal Secret Spot in direction of a smaller beach in the neighborhood where we got tipped to have some freshly grilled seafood. You wouldn't say you're in for a treat when you see the plastic tables and chairs standing on the beach. But believe us: it's a must-do. Choose the fish you want and enjoy watching the sun going down, candlelight, relaxing atmosphere and delicious fresh fish on your plate. Yum! We only stayed two nights in Sal Secret Spot. Next day our adventure would continue in direction of the more touristic Seminyak. Still we hade an early morning dip in the pool, followed by a few snaps of the eco resort that secretly stole our heart. If you're planning a trip to Bali and value a quiet stay, Sal Secret Spot surely is highly recommendable. You can check rooms and rates on their website: salbalihotel.com. Say hi from us and enjoy. ;-)

Hilarious: Christina Aguilera And Will Ferrell Get Their Tight Pants On At Jimmy Kimmel

"One town isn't big enough for a tight pants love triangle." Christina Aguilera and Will Ferrell battle Jimmy Fallon for the tightest tight pants in the whole village.  You've got to give it to him: Jimmy Fallon has some of the funniest short formats ever created in his television show. Think of the dozens celebrity lip sync battles for example. He started that whole hype. Since the Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon isn't being aired in Germany, we like to often have a peek on some YouTube snippets of the show. And boy, have you got to see this one till the very end. Not only because it's starring the fabulous Christina Aguilera and Will Ferrell but also because it are three and a half damn funny minutes. Got my tight pants, got my tight pants on! Muahaha! :-)

Scotch & Soda Debut on New York Fashion Week

It's a fact: Scotch & Soda made its debut on New York Fashion Week to reveal the Fall Winter 2016 collection. How they did it? With a big bang! It's no secret that we're big Scotch & Soda fans. From its more decadent styles, to its great denim washes and basics with cool details - we mostly prefer to have everything the Amsterdam based brand has to offer centralized in one place: our wardrobe. On Valentines Day Scotch & Soda revealed its Fall Winter 2016 collection. And they did so for the first time on the New York Fashion Week. If that's not exciting enough, they chose to do it in a more creative way than using the regular catwalk. The brand went for a spectacular show with intergalactic mood projections, models and live musicians up on the wall in shopping windows and most important: great merchandise. Be sure to watch the full show and put some Scotch & Soda must-haves on your wishlist for the upcoming Fall Winter season. I already know which cardigan will most definitely be mine...

Dairy-free cooking: Sorbet ice in a champagne bath with a hint of mint
Dairy-Free Cooking: Fruit Sorbet in Champagne

After successfully completing our first two courses while still having smiles on the faces of our guests, we could see the finish line of our very first dairy-free dinner party. One more thing: dessert! What about a fresh fruit sorbet in a champagne bath with a hint of mint? Sorbets are a simple combination of fresh or frozen fruit with sugar. They're also the perfect dairy-free alternative for ice. We've chosen honey strawberry sorbet with a touch of mint.  Here's what you need to feed eight little dessert fans: - 1 kg of frozen raspberries - 1 cup of sugar - 1 cup of water - 2 tea spoons honey - a handful of mint - 2-3 leafs of galantine - 1 bottle champagne  About one kilo of fruit is perfect to make one liter of sorbet. A little more or less is fine. Puree the raspberries, add two tea spoons of honey and a handful of mint, chopped into small pieces. Finally you add a little sugar, and that's already everything that needs to be done.  The easiest way to add sugar is to make a simple sugar syrup upfront. Cook one cup of sugar and water together until the sugar is dissolved and let it cool. Remember, though, that freezing dulls sweet flavors, so you want the base to taste slightly too sweet before freezing it. Last but not least: put the sorbet in the freezer and let it cool for some hours before serving. For the bath of champagne, all you need to do is to fill one bottle of champagne in a bowl and mix it with two to three leafs of galantine. Stir until the galantine has dissolved. Then divide the champagne evenly in your serving glasses and let them cool for 3-4 hours in the fridge to get a more solid mass.  Before serving, cut balls of sorbet and place them carefully on your champagne bath. Add a mint leaf, maybe even a small piece of dark chocolate, et voilà. Smakelijk! Guten Appetit!

Sia Rocks Carpool Karaoke

Don't you just LOVE Carpool Karaoke from The Late Late Show with James Cordon? Well, you most definitely will after seeing the Sia episode. James Cordon is one of the most popular tv hosts right now. With his Carpool Karaoke he already cruised around the streets with a lot of celebrities that don't mind singing out loud. In the latest episode James spots Sia in Los Angeles and asks her to carpool to work with him as they sing some of the biggest songs she's performed and written, including "Chandelier" and "Diamonds". A-ma-zing. That girl can surely sing. Also seriously worth a watch: the carpool karaoke with Adele:

Dairy-Free Cooking: Codfish With Pine Nut Rice

For the very first dairy-free dinner party at our place, we put together a jummy codfish with a creamy zucchini white whine sauce and pine nut rice as the main course. And of course we'll give you all the tips and tricks to able you to put it together yourself. Enjoy! Here's what you need for two (times four in our case since we had six guests): - 2 fresh codfish filets (around 180g each) - 1 slice of dried crumbled bread - 50g parmesan cheese (make sure it has below 0,1g carbs) For the sauce: - 1 zucchini - 200g dairy-free cream - 100ml white wine - a pinch of salt - black pepper For the pine nut rice: - 1 cup of rice at your choice - a handful of pine nuts How to? Pre-heat your oven at 180 degrees. Cut the zucchini in small cubes and place them in an oven plate. Mix the dairy-free cream with the white wine and spice it at your personal taste with salt and pepper. Poor the mixture over the zucchini cubes till they are covered. Lay the codfish filets on top of the sauce. Next, mix the breadcrumbs with parmesan cheese. This should form a sticky consistency. Now spread out over the fish filets and put the plate in the oven for fifteen to twenty minutes. Meanwhile you have enough time to cook the rice and roast the pine nuts in a pan. Just before the rice is ready, add the pine nuts to it so the rice can absorb the delicious aroma. Bing! Did you hear that? Your dairy-free fish dish is ready to be served! Guten Appetit!

Ellie Goulding joins the hilarious ACTIVEWEAR squad
Ellie Goulding Joins The Hilarious Activewear Squad

There's a great music video going around on the activewear trend. Now Ellie Goulding even teamed up with the YouTube sensation to launch a sequel. Feels like yesterday: walking in New York, seeing people on the street (!!) in joggers and sneakers while not doing sports. Even men in nicely tailored suits were wearing a pair of Nikes. It was around 2012 and at that time I basically thought it was pretty weird. I even remember telling my colleagues and friends back in Belgium how crazy that was and we all had a good laugh about it. Can you imagine? Going into the office in sneakers? Can you? But nowadays we Europeans also manage to see the benefit in wearing activewear. It's even hard to picture not having a casual Friday at work without a comfy pair of Nike flyknits. So okay, we went through that change. And as a fitness enthusiast I'm also fond of some great Reebok gear. But maybe the whole athleisure-, sports leisure-, sportswear-, activewear- or however you want to call it trend is getting a bit out of control. You can be comfy in your every day life but don't put a huge PUMA logo in my face during business meetings. Anyway: These YouTube ladies sure have nailed it to create a good laugh around today's fashion disaster. Their ACTIVEWEAR video went viral and even Ellie Goulding teamed-up to launch a sequel. "I'm Ellie -fucking- Goulding in my activewear."

Hilarious: Active wear! (ear worm)
Perfect dairy-free dinner party
The Perfect Dairy-Free Dinner Party

More and more people lately discover they have a food allergy. Does that mean you can't enjoy the pleasures of delicious dining anymore? Oh, hell no! Mid last year I've gone in a state of constant tiredness, pretty much always being nauseous, having headaches, even crawling on the floor from incredible stomach pains and ending up in the hospital. Turned out I have a lactose intolerance, an allergy for milk products. Which nowadays seems to be quite common, though still quite an obstacle for cooking and going on a restaurant. My god, milk is in everything: E-VE-RY-THING. Good thing we have really great friends that are open for some creativity in the kitchen. We decided that every one or two months we'll come together for a dinner that makes nobody feel bad. Also, it's the perfect occasion to drink wine together. Because: what's a dinner party without? :-) Meet: The perfect dairy-free dinner party. The party kicked-off at our place. What the hell should we cook for eight people? Well, we actually really quickly found some inspiring recipes in books and the WWW. Here's what made it to the very first dairy-free diner party menu (click on it to get to the recipe): Starter: Cucumber lasagne with a paprika cashew paste and avocado filling Main course: Codfish with creamy zucchini white wine sauce and pine nut rice Dessert: Sorbet ice in a bath of champagne with a hint of mint Nobody went home hungry, nor thirsty and the whole night was dairy-free. Just the way we like it. Enjoy!

Dairy-Free Cooking: Cucumber Lasagne

Since Jeroen found out he has a pretty nasty lactose intolerance (he's allergic to milk products) we started to become experts in cooking dairy-free. For one of our dairy-free dinner parties we made this delicious starter that we discovered in the 'Vegan for Youth'-book from Attila Hildmann. Here's all you need to put it on a plate yourself: Cucumber lasagne with a paprika cashew paste with avocado filling What you need for two as a main course (times two in our case as a starter for eight): - 1/2 cucumber - 1 tablespoon walnut oil - a pinch of seasalt For the paprika cashew paste: - 100g red paprika - 1/4 chili pepper - 180g unsalted cashews - a pinch of kurkuma - seasalt - black pepper For the avocado filling: - 2 avocados - 1 tablespoon of chopped dill - 1/2 tablespoon lemon juice - 1 tablespoon walnut oil - seasalt - black pepper For decoration: - some dill - roasted pine nuts How to? Wash the cucumber and cut in thin slices (around 2mm thick). Put walnut oil and seasalt on it. Wash the paprika and chili. Remove pits. Next, put all ingredients for the paprika cashew paste in a blender. Mix till you get a creamy paste and spice it up with salt and pepper. Slice the avocados in half. Remove pit and cut the avocado in small cubes. Add the other ingredients for the filling and add salt and pepper. Now start building your little lasagne tower! Place cucumber slices on the plate, cover it with some of the paprika cashew paste, put cucumber slices on top and cover that again with some of the avocado filling, ... you know the drill. At the end: decorate with a bit of dill and roasted pine nuts (we like to put a LOT of them on top). Finish! Bon appétit!

JAF loves Les Mills Bodyjam in Bali

During our stay in one of the most beautiful hotels in the world, we just had to use its infinity pool for a refreshing session of Les Mills Bodyjam! In May 2015 we've enjoyed an awesome holiday in Bali. As already mentioned in our These Hotels Are Sick-post, we're quite the fans of the Hanging Gardens Resort in Ubud, Bali. F booked a few nights in this little paradise as an anniversary present. Woohooh! You can imagine the thrilledness when figuring it out at arrival. And when you're staying in a dream destination - Bodyjam and dance addicts as we are -, you just NEED to show some hot dance moves. But don't worry, the refreshing water of the infinity pool kept us cool. We hit the pool for the work-out at the early morning around 6AM for Bodyjam 72 (The Lawnmower - Aryay). You would imagine you could do this unnoticed when getting up that early. Guess again... An applause of crew and guests followed. :-) So, what's the next dreamy Bodyjam destination where we can perform some of the by Gandalf Archer choreographed moves? Stay tuned!

You know what we need? We need some karaoke!
Crazy Water Slide Fun: the Royal Flush

With hot summer temperatures hitting us, it's awesome having a dip in a refreshing pool. The Royal Flush in Texas makes your refreshment quite spectacular. Meet the craziest water slide ever! The in April launched water slide in the BSR Cable Park in Texas can be a dream come true or for some a real nightmare. With its steep slide down, get ready to be completely catapulted in the sky and to hit the water after one, two, three, four,... flips. After surviving the Reebok Spartan Race we're most definately in for a ride. But are you up for it as well? Check it out! Swimsuit packed? Let's go!

Merman Hair Trend takes over Istagram
Merman Trend takes over Instagram

Women are no longer the only ones enjoying colorfull hairtrends. Recently men have boldly taken over Instagram with brightly colored beards and hair. Meet: the Merman trend. We must say - though generally being up to speed and picking in on latest trends is a good thing - we're not so sure about this one. Sure, Ke$ha, Katy Perry and Nicki Minaj look great as little mermaids but when it comes to men... For ourselves we probably prefer the Photoshopped version as above instead of walking into the office with the real deal. But that's just us. How do you feel about the Merman trend? Channing Tatum can Vogue
Channing Tatum can Vogue

With Magic Mike XXL hitting theaters, all eyes are on Channing Tatum. And you have to admit, the guy can move. Even Madonna's Vogue is no competition. While doing promo for the follow-up of Magic Mike, actor Channing Tatum showed some classic dance moves at Vanity Fair. And with classic we don't mean ballroom, a cha-cha-cha or linedance. Hell no.

JAF bites dust at the Reebok Spartan Race

If you put us in front of a sporty challenge, chances are high we won't say no. So when a few friends invited us to join their sprint team for the Reebok Spartan Race, we were all aboard! March this year, I received a text message with "You guys should join our team for the Reebok Spartan Race. It will be cool. You have to sign-up today!". Little did we know what we were getting into but we quickly signed up, assuming it's some kind of marathon. Not. A few weeks later we discovered the true nature of the Reebok Spartan Race, an obstacle race. Let's show you... Yeah. We were a bit excited as well after seeing that a few days before taking part of the race. It's probably no surprise when we say we were slightly nervous at the starting point. But hey, together with our great team we took on all the obstacles, ran our ass off and all covered in mud did we get to that burning finish line. Our team Les Spartans even finished as the fastest - and let's just say BEST - sprint team of the day with a time of 01:16:29. Let's do that again!

Adidas goes conscious with Parley for the oceans
adidas goes conscious with Parley for the oceans

The world is changing, making us having to live more conscience. After G-Star with RAW for the Oceans, Adidas now also found a cool way to make this happen and created an amazing plastic shoe with Parley for the Oceans. Adidas celebrates its recently announced partnership with Parley for the Oceans in the unique surroundings of the United Nations headquarters and showcased an innovative footwear concept born from this collaboration. Parley for the Oceans is an organisation in which creators, thinkers and leaders come together to raise awareness about the state of the oceans and to collaborate on projects that can protect and conserve them. As founding member, adidas supports Parley for the Oceans in its education and communication efforts, and its comprehensive Ocean Plastic Program that intends to end plastic pollution of the oceans. The UNxParley event included an intimate press gathering where adidas Group Executive Board member responsible for Global Brands Eric Liedtke and Parley for the Oceans founder Cyrill Gutsch talked about the partnership and showcased a unique prototype product. adidas created a world first with a shoe upper made entirely of yarns and filaments reclaimed and recycled from ocean waste and illegal deep-sea gillnets. Parley partner organisation Sea Shepherd retrieved the nets after a 110-day expedition tracking an illegal poaching vessel, which culminated off the coast of West Africa. The concept shoe illustrates the direction adidas and Parley for the Oceans are taking, ahead of consumer-ready ocean plastic products being revealed later this year. "At Parley for the Oceans, we want to establish the oceans as a fundamental part of the debate around climate change. Our objective is to boost public awareness and to inspire new collaborations that can contribute to protect and preserve the oceans." said Cyrill Gutsch. "We are extremely proud that adidas is joining us in this mission and is putting its creative force behind this partnership to show that it is possible to turn ocean plastic into something cool". Eric Liedtke, who is also a passionate member of the Parley for the Oceans Steering Committee, said: "We are incredibly excited to join Parley for the Oceans as they bring the cause of the oceans to the attention of the United Nations. adidas has long been a leader in sustainability, but this partnership allows us to tap into new areas and create innovative materials and products for our athletes. We invite everyone to join us on this journey to clean up the oceans."

Applause for the Elisabeth musical
Applause For The Elisabeth Musical

This week we had the pleasure to attend the Elisabeth musical, also known as the most successful German musical, in the Essener Colosseum. We were backstage, onstage, frontstage and are pleased to report to you right here, right now. The very talented cast of Elisabeth just returned from their tour in Shanghai where they performed the 'other' story of world known Swiss empress Sissi 40 times in, yes... German. 14 megatrucks packed with 664 costumes, 150 wigs, 125 pair of shoes and the full scenery brought the Elisabeth musical back to Germany where the piece will run in Essen till the 22nd of March. Later onwards they will move to München. Livekritik and the production behind the show invited us for a very pleasant evening with Elisabeth. At arrival we were welcomed with a backstage tour. What kind of team is behind the technic, the costumes and the scenery? How do the actors manage to have a costume-switch in less than 10 seconds (Elisabeth for example switches her costume 16 times)? All our questions got answered. And now the impressive world of musical hasn't got any secrets for us. Meanwhile #backstage, spinning around at #ElisabethMusical... Feb 2015 um 9:46 Uhr After the interesting tour, a spin onstage, a glass of champagne and snacks it was time to get to our seats. Lights! And action! The tones of 'Alle Tanzen Mit Dem Tot' kicked of a show that we both now give two well deserved thumbs up. We let ourselves get guided through the dark history of Elisabeth, performed by Roberta Valentini, and her secret flirt with death. During the show we mingled in the TweetUp via #ElisabethMusical and expressed our very positive impression on the musical. Cause, to be completely honest, there are some amazing voices in the cast, accompanied by the impressive orchestra guided by Paul Christ. Our favorite voice of the night is the one of Mark Seibert who performes Der Tot and sounds a lot like the very talented Belgian singer/songwriter Udo. J had goosebumps during the full song where grown-up Prince Rudolf sings with Der Tot. F's favorite song is 'Ich gehör nur mir', which he is now singing ever since. When the curtain fell, we were invited to have a chat with the main actors who talked about their nights in China and about being back in front of a German crowd. What a night. It probably doesn't come as a surprise if we tell you the Elisabeth musical is highly recommendable. The 28-people cast still plays in Essen till the 22nd of March and than moves to München. Check out the website for the full tourplan and tickets. Meanwhile we're already looking forward to our next night out. JafJaf!

HE by Mango November Lookbook
H.E. By Mango November 2014 Men’s Lookbook

Mango surprises with its so far best H.E. by Mango November Men's Lookbook Mango has already released a few cookbooks earlier this year including their  A/W14 Menswear lookbook and their A/W14 urban suiting collection. Both have been played quite safe on terms of style and looks. This november lookbook however is defintely one of the most fashion forward collections Mango has released so far. We are beyond impressed. For us, Mango has always been very traditional, mainstream and quite Spanish inspired in their H.E. by Mango collection. Well, this lookbook is different. It's high fashion but still not over the top. All styles shown in the lookbook are individually styled and brought together in remarkable outfits. We are really surprised and welcome this new look of the H.E. collection. Everything is clean cut, futuristic and minimalistic. The mix of tailoring with sports influenced pieces follows the actual fashion trend and is executed nicely. For us a ready to wear and feel good collection. Difficult to choose a favourite. What's yours? JafJaf!

Fasten Your Seatbelt: The Sky Is The Limit With Windowless Airplanes.

In 10 Years there will be a windowless airplane where the sky is the limit. Imagine sitting in a flight cabin where the windows are display screens, relaying a choice of views from around the aircraft. Sounds great and this company is working on it. The Center for Process Innovation (CPI), a British technology research company is working on the next big step in air transportation. They are aiming to replace the windows from passenger planes with touch-screens that extend along the plane’s entire length and display the view from outside through cameras mounted on the plane’s exterior. According to CPI, windows are one of the greatest sources of unnecessary weight in passenger planes. Solid walls are stronger and allow the walls to be built thinner as well. The OLED screens that replace the windows would display the view outside and allow passengers to select entertainment and stewardess service. Nice side effect: less weight means less fuel consumption which results again in lower CO2 emissions. Thumps Up! A bright technology to look forward to and a whole new flight eperience. No need to look through these tiny little airplane windows any longer. We already see ourselves about to land in New York City with a stunning panoramic city view by night or passing by the Mount Everest. 2024 can come. JafJaf! Extra designed OLED screens will show passengers the world outside. Via the screens passengers can ask for service, see all flight information and enjoy internet access and media players.

Fiat 500x
500X. Crossover City Cruiser.

500 meets Crossover. The Fiat 500X. On the Paris Motor Show Fiat presented the next '500' family member. The Fiat 500 gets an X resulting in a compact crossover that marks the evolution of the brand and technology through the development in its DNA. It is bigger, more powerful and ready for action Since we are already fans of the MINI Countryman driving it from time to time with DriveNow, there is now the italian answer to the compact city crossover. And we do like it a lot. A car with character, the new crossover explores a brand-new dimension of being 500, where a mature, elegant, all-Italian style "clothes" - like haute couture - the substance of a car that is comfortable, high-performance and always in touch with the world: that's the X side of beauty, and that's the soul of the Fiat 500X. Fiat has created an exclusive, top of the range, limited edition of the model - the Fiat 500X "Opening Edition" - to guarantee the first 2000 lucky customers the chance to drive the exciting new crossover from the 500 family. Two exteriors - like the two souls of the new 500X: one more "urban" in Art Grey, the other in tri-coat red, perfect for recreational use. To find out more about the exclusive Fiat 500X "Opening Edition", users can visit www.500X.fiat500.com to discover what makes the new Fiat crossover truly one of a kind, using a navigation system which allows you to explore the car from any angle. On the website you can also reserve your limited edition Fiat 500X through your trusted dealership and be one of the first 2000 to drive one. The new Fiat 500X is set to arrive in dealerships from early 2015, and like any cult item, initially it may be tricky to meet demand. We are now already waiting for a first test drive.  JafJaf!

The people of Times Square by night
The People Of Times Square.

Michael Tapp captures the feel on Times Square. We've only been once to New York, but can tell you: Times Square is a place that you never forget. The lights, the atmosphere, the people that walk around. Gotta love it. Small note: J probably loves it a little bit more since it was the place where he saw the one and only Snoop Dog, aka nowadays Snoop Lion. Video artist Michael Tapp made a great video of the big square with a focus on the people that pass there during nighttime by having a chat with them. Watch out: tearjerker. Enjoy! JafJaf!

DriveNow McArthurGlen Designer Outlet Roermond
DriveNow X McArthurGlen Designer Outlet Roermond.

DriveNow let's you shop until you drop at the Designer Outlet! As you already know, we're big fans of DriveNow. Recently, the car sharing agency launched an interesting collaboration with the McArthurGlen Designer Outlet in Roermond, the Netherlands. How does it work? Easy! Just hop in a DriveNow MINI or BMW at choice and book the partner offer via the DriveNow menu in the car. Depending on how many people you are, the costs vary from 50€ for one person up to 65€ for four people. Next to that, every person receives a 15€ voucher at the information desk when arrived in the Outlet Center. That voucher can, by the way, be spent in every store in the center and comes without a minimum to be spend. So... you actually pay 5 € for the six hour rent, including 140 free kilometers when you go on a shopping tour with a group of four. There's definitely not a cheaper and more comfortable way to get to your designer destination. We certainly liked the offer and tried it ourselves last Sunday afternoon. We booked a MINI Countryman in Dusseldorf, started off with a sporty Sunday BodyJam work-out at the gym and continued our trip further to Roermond. Arrived at the Designer Outlet, we picked up our voucher cards and were ready to attack! From all major sports brands like adidas, Nike, Puma and Reebok, to labels like Boss, Strellson, Diesel, Ralph Lauren, Denham. You name it, you'll find it. Next to that, the center has loads of places to have a coffee or eat something when you just feel like having a little break. Our catch of the Sunday? A pair of cool adidas sneakers for F and a Reebok cross-fit training pants for J. All in the trunk and back to Dusseldorf! For more details about booking your own DriveNow shopping spree, go and check out the DriveNow-Blog. JafJaf!

Pharrell Williams x adidas Originals – First Phase Released.

Pharrell Williams x Adidas Originals first phase available now. Pharrell Williams has become one of the major American music producer to launch a design range this week with trainers and sportswear for Adidas. Now, Adidas has unveiled the first two pieces from its collaboration with musician and producer Pharrell Williams, which launched in shops on Saturday, 20th. Three more product releases will follow in October, November and December. The total collection will consist of a series of limited edition pieces with the draw on items from the sportswear brand's collection of classic designs. The first two are a version of Adidas' Superstar track jacket in leather and the brand's classic Stan Smith shoes, which will come in three colors: blue, red and black. "The equal sign is the leitmotif of the collaboration's logo," said Adidas in an official statement about the logo for the collaboration. "Next to the Adidas Originals trefoil, two of the iconic three stripes transform into a bold equal sign with the third being the name of Pharrell Williams," the brand explained further. Adidas also said that the products in the collaboration would "revolve around Pharrell's idea of equality," but did not explain how this had been applied to the jacket and trainers. Release Date: Available Now! - Store: www.adidas.com/pharrellwilliams Adidas first announced its collaboration with Pharell at the beginning of this year, but is not the only brand to be working with the producer. In July, Pharrell unveiled a collection of clothing for G-Star RAW with fabrics made from materials, created using waste plastic collected from the sea. At the moment it seems that everything the great producer/singer touches is meant to be very succesful. From his Oscar-winning 'Happy' song which turned into an anthem earlier this year, to multiple magazine covers. For sure one of the men of 2014. Stay tuned for more. JafJaf!

Suit Up: J x Drykorn.

J's 25th life year brings a new premium friend along: a lovely Drykorn suit. Ah, birthdays. The time to gather all your beloved friends and family to talk about the past year, have a drink, a dance, a bite, a selfie with everyone. The perfect moment to have a good time all together. You have to just love it. Next to that, birthdays are also the time of presents... With my 25th birthday last week, I received quite some gift cards and shopping money. Logically it didn't take me too long to go out and spend it. And if I may say: it's been spent wisely. Already for a long period I've been in need of a second complete suit. Most of the time you can easily combine a good qualitative jeans with a nice blazer for a casual office look, but sometimes you'd just like it to be a little more dressed. So, with freshly received cash money in the hand, F and I went to look for a new full costume at Drykorn (yes, Made For Beautiful People). After trying on quite some cool stuff, we decided to go for this dark blue suit with a cool pattern all over the blazer and pants that clearly makes it stand out. By the way: it not only looks good, it also feels soft. Prrrrr. So, fashion police, what are your thoughts? Can I walk into your office? JafJaf!

A Smooth Ride: The MINI Superleggera Vision Concept.

Ready for cruising through next Summer in style? Have a look at the electric MINI Superleggera Vision concept! As announced earlier in Spring this year, this exclusive interpretation of an electric open-top two-seater was created by MINI and Touring Superleggera, the stylish couch builder from Milan. The MINI Superleggera Vision is on the one hand a classic roadster, a compact and agile two-seater, expressing the most minimalist and emotional style of motoring; and on the other hand its electric drivetrain gives the car distinctly modern driving dynamics. The perfectly balanced proportions indicate at first glance what the electrically powered MINI has to offer in terms of a driving experience: the stretched bonnet, long wheelbase and cool, short overhangs convey pure driving fun. As in every MINI, the wheels are set widely on the body, promising a high degree of agility. The passenger cell is slightly set back, further underscoring the car's dynamic impression. The result is a car of classic beauty that is also state of the art. And we sure like it... a lot! This all is still in a concept phase, but as reactions are mainly very positive, BMW announced production could be something of the near future. Fingers crossed! Can you already imagine yourself taking this baby for a spin? JafJaf!

Angkor Wat (Cambodia) Angkor Wat was first a Hindu, then subsequently a Buddhist, temple complex in Cambodia and the largest religious monument in the world. The temple was built by the Khmer King Suryavarman II in the early 12th century in Yasodharapura, the capital of the Khmer Empire, as his state temple and eventual mausoleum. Breaking from the Shaivism tradition of previous kings, Angkor Wat was instead dedicated to Vishnu. As the best-preserved temple at the site, it is the only one to have remained a significant religious center since its foundation. The temple is at the top of the high classical style of Khmer architecture which got major influence from Kalinga architectural style. It has become a symbol of Cambodia, appearing on its national flag, and it is the country’s prime attraction for visitors. 9. Easter Island Easter Island (Rapa Nui: Rapa Nui, Spanish: Isla de Pascua) is a Polynesian island in the southeastern Pacific Ocean, at the southeastern most point of the Polynesian Triangle.Easter Island is famous for its 887 extant monumental statues, called moai, created by the early Rapa Nui people. In 1995, UNESCO named Easter Island a World Heritage Site, with much of the island protected within Rapa Nui National Park.Polynesian people settled on Easter Island in the first millennium AD, and created a thriving culture, as evidenced by the moai and other artifacts. However, human activity, the introduction of the Polynesian rat and overpopulation led to gradual deforestation and extinction of natural resources, which caused the demise of the Rapa Nui civilization. 8. Cappadocia Cappadocia also Capadocia; Turkish: Kapadokya, from Greek: Kappadokía, from Ancient Greek:  from Old Persian: Katpatuka is a historical region in Central Anatolia, largely in Nevshehir Province, in Turkey. In the time of Herodotus, the Cappadocians were reported as occupying the whole region from Mount Taurus to the vicinity of the Euxine (Black Sea). Cappadocia, in this sense, was bounded in the south by the chain of the Taurus Mountains that separate it from Cilicia, to the east by the upper Euphrates and the Armenian Highland, to the north by Pontus, and to the west by Lycaonia and eastern Galatia. The name was traditionally used in Christian sources throughout history and is still widely used as an international tourism concept to define a region of exceptional natural wonders, in particular characterized by fairy chimneys and a unique historical and cultural heritage. 7. The Collosseum The Colosseum or Coliseum, also known as the Flavian Amphitheatre (Latin: Amphitheatrum Flavium; Italian: Anfiteatro Flavio or Colosseo) is an elliptical amphitheatre in the centre of the city of Rome, Italy.Built of concrete and stone, it was the largest amphitheatre of the Roman Empire, and is considered one of the greatest works of Roman architecture and engineering. It is the largest amphitheatre in the world. Construction began under the emperor Vespasian in 70 AD, and was completed in 80 AD under his successor and heir Titus. The Colosseum could hold, it is estimated, between 50,000 and 80,000 spectators, and was used for gladiatorial contests and public spectacles such as mock sea battles, animal hunts, executions, re-enactments of famous battles, and dramas based on Classical mythology. The building ceased to be used for entertainment in the early medieval era. It was later reused for such purposes as housing, workshops, quarters for a religious order, a fortress, a quarry, and a Christian shrine. 6. The Ngorongoro Conservation Area (Tanzania) The Ngorongoro Conservation Area (NCA) is a conservation area and a UNESCO World Heritage Site located 180 km (110 mi) west of Arusha in the Crater Highlands area of Tanzania. Ngorongoro Crater, a large volcanic caldera within the area, is recognized by one private organization as one of the Seven Natural Wonders of Africa. 5.  Norwegian Fjords This list of Norwegian fjords shows many of the fjords in Norway. In total, there are about 1,190 fjords in Norway and the Svalbard islands. The sortable list includes the lengths and locations of those fjords. 4. Grand Canyon The Grand Canyon is a steep-sided canyon carved by the Colorado River in the United States in the state of Arizona. It is contained within and managed by Grand Canyon National Park, the Hualapai Tribal Nation, and the Havasupai Tribe. The Grand Canyon is 277 miles (446 km) long, up to 18 miles (29 km) wide and attains a depth of over a mile (6,000 feet or 1,800 meters). Nearly two billion years of Earth’s geological history have been exposed as the Colorado River and its tributaries cut their channels through layer after layer of rock while the Colorado Plateau was uplifted. 3. The Dead Sea The Dead Sea, “Sea of Salt”, also Hebrew: “The Sea of Death” is a salt lake bordering Jordan to the east and Israel to the west. It is 9.6 times as salty as the ocean. This salinity makes for a harsh environment in which animals cannot flourish, hence its name. The Dead Sea is 50 kilometres (31 mi) long and 15 kilometres (9 mi) wide at its widest point. It lies in the Jordan Rift Valley, and its main tributary is the Jordan River. The Dead Sea has attracted visitors from around the Mediterranean basin for thousands of years.  Biblically, it was a place of refuge for King David. The seawater has a density of 1.240 kg/L, which makes swimming similar to floating. 2. Niagara Falls Niagara Falls is the collective name for three waterfalls that straddle the international border between Canada and the United States; more specifically, between the province of Ontario and the state of New York. They form the southern end of the Niagara Gorge. From largest to smallest, the three waterfalls are the Horseshoe Falls, the American Falls and the Bridal Veil Falls. The Horseshoe Falls lie mostly on the Canadian side and the American Falls entirely on the American side, separated by Goat Island. 1. The Egyptian Pyramids The Egyptian pyramids are ancient pyramid-shaped masonry structures located in Egypt. There are 138 pyramids discovered in Egypt as of 2008. Most were built as tombs for the country’s Pharaohs and their consorts during the Old and Middle Kingdom periods. The estimate of the number of workers to build the pyramids range from a few thousand, twenty thousand, and up to 100,000. The most famous Egyptian pyramids are those found at Giza, on the outskirts of Cairo. Several of the Giza pyramids are counted among the largest structures ever built. The Pyramid of Khufu at Giza is the largest Egyptian pyramid. It is the only one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World still in existence.

We love our Gemini Bracelets

Already for some months now we're big fans of the two Belgian brothers who founded Gemini Bracelets. Selling their collection so far in Belgium, the Netherlands, France, Portugal and Luxemburg, this Fall the arm candy will finally be available in Germany as well. First shops to get a glimpse of them are located in Aachen, Munich and Cologne (not thát far away from Dusseldorf - ha). And with their high quality standard and view, it not only completes your look but just brings you in a better mood. The German man in the streets of Dusseldorf definitely approves their arrival in Deutschland. Lol! JafJaf!

DIY: Paperwall Art

Thinking about redecorating your wall? Well, here we have a great creative DIY that lets you create your individual wall art for little money and not more than 4 tiny wholes in your wall. All you need is an older wooden picture frame, chicken wire, white paint spray and colorful paper of your choice. Having all materials and tools ready it will take you not more than a couple of hours to create your personalized wall art. The first step is to staple the chicken wire onto the back of your frame with a staple gun. Take care to get rid of all the sharp edges with a wire cutter. Having finished the construction start spraying the frame with paint until it is evenly white and let it dry. Before attaching it to the wall measure and mark where the screw wholes should be and use a drill bit to get thorugh your painted frame. Then install it to the wall using a spacer to keep some distance. Finally cut the paper into colorful pieces, roll them up and stuff them into the chicken wire openings. Follow your own taste and creativity to create various waves of colors, use it to say 'Happy Birthday' or just 'Love you honey' on Valentine's Day. The result from far appears to be done with paint but taking a closer look it gets obvious that this work is just done with paper and wire. JafJaf!

Listen & Love: Sia 'Chandelier' (piano version)
Listen & love: Sia ‘Chandelier’ (piano version)

September might be too early to decide what's the best song of the year. Nevertheless, Sia with 'Chandelier' does have a great shot at winning that title. Months after 'Chandelier' has been released we're still singing it out & proud while cruising on the German roads. And most of the time, we're even tempted to replay the song two to three times. Which you normally only do with songs from Britney S. and Christina A, right? It gets better... The singer from down-under recorded a new version of 'Chandelier' which will be released on iTunes next week. The new version strips down the whole track, leaving it up to her incredible voice and a piano. We're not sure which version we like the most if we're honest. When listening to the intimate piano version, we want to have the radio edit to listen to as the next track, with again the piano version as the one after. Which makes our singing routine of course quite confusing. Anyway, you can believe us that it's quite amazing. Or don't believe us and just listen. JafJaf!

First look at the Alexander Wang H&M Fall/Winter 2014 collection
First look at the Alexander Wang H&M 2014 Fall/Winter collection.

After the breaking Alexander Wang H&M news earlier this year, the Swedish retailer now releases the first images. The collaboration with the incredibly famous designer stays true to Wang’s fashion forward sportswear aesthetic. Expect a dark selection of athletic-inspired gear with a rough focus on boxing. Say hello to neoprene, tech jersey, leather blocking and toned-down colors. Not so toned-down though are the large WANG-prints on eyewear, sweatshirts and shorts. These should give the collection a kind of underground street wear sensibility but are sometimes a bit too much for us. Maybe JAF would be a suggestion from our side. We do look forward to wearing the incredibly cool gray puffer jacket from the Alexander Wang H&M collection, hitting stores in November. JafJaf!

Love: buying the same Adidas sneakers (by accident)
Love: buying the same Adidas sneakers (by accident).

What happens when you're together for more than three years? You start buying the same Adidas sneakers. ;-) Didn't the Spice Girls once sing about 'When two become one'? We clearly understand the deep lyrics of that pop song now. When J doesn't feel well, he has a great medicine that always works very therapeutic: online shopping! Since he was anyway looking for new sneakers, he ordered himself a pair of fancy white Adidas puppies with a smash of neon pink and minty green. Order out, laptop closed, time for a feel-better nap. That nap didn't take too long though. Later that day the doorbell rings for a package delivery... from Adidas. Turns out F already placed  a 'sneaky' order two days before. And believe it or not: he bought the exact same supercool shoes. Love happens. Or shall we call it destiny? Anyway we are both happy and that counts. That's all that matters. JafJaf!

Boss Orange Autumn/Winter 2014
Stylish: Boss Orange Autumn/Winter 2014

When it comes to a modern classy style in men's fashion, Boss Orange is one of the labels that really meets most of our expectations. Next to Boss Black, Hugo by Hugo Boss and Boss Green, the 'Orange' Autumn/Winter 2014 styles breathe a certain 'whatever' while still looking like you're straight from the catwalk. A kind of out-of-bed-look that comes with a au-natural but looks hot as hell. The brand mixed and matched shiny and matte textiles to create a more mysterious look & feel and we sure like it. Hugo Boss presented its fall/winter 2014 campaign fronted by British model Harvey Newton. Giving the collection a rock ‘n roll flair, Harvey brings a new spirit to Boss’ leather outerwear, fitted knitwear and smart separates. Our favorite: the oh-so-beatiful leather jacket! JafJaf!

Le belle Monaco has the world's most expensive penthouse
Inside the world’s most expensive penthouse.

If you want to be really decadent, you should definitely give Monaco a try. Next year a super rich multi-millionaire will find its home in the most expensive penthouse of the world. The luxurious five-floor flat, on top of Tour Odéon - a 171m high new skyscraper in Monaco- will get sold for around a small € 302 million and will be the most expensive penthouse of the world. Included in the price tag is the magnificent view over the Mediterranean, an infinity pool with its own slide, a health centre and an in-house caterer. Tour Odéon itself, with its 70 super-sized flats, is the first new skyscraper to be build in Monaco since the '80s. It will be the Mediterranean coastline's second tallest building when completed next year, offering its not-so-shabby residents a 24/7 concierge service and a private chauffeur. The penthouse on top will just have that little extra, set to stand out even in the midst of such extreme luxury. Care to join us for a look inside? JAF Flashback - J's history as a popstar
JAF Flashback: J’s history as a popstar.

We're gonna go back in time! Did you know that J has a history as a popstar? Back in 2010, when he was working as a TV-host for a music channel, the question popped-up to release an own single. J, who previously participated in the Belgian version of X-Factor didn't hesitate a minute and dove into a music studio in The Netherlands, where he worked with the incredibly talented Rocketeers. A first single for MINNO was born: Dreaming. Hey, don't blame the boy for kissing a girl. He kinda liked it, the taste of her cherry chopstick. And what happens in the UK (where the videoclip was shot), gets posted on the net. Half a year later, J started working with singer songwriter Gene Thomas to create a self written feel-good summer song. MINNO had a second swinging baby: Dance with Me. The videoclip that was recorded in Amsterdam. J might be swinging in the spotlight but you can barely miss out on hottie F, shaking his booty. After hearing a demo of the first MINNO song, Dreaming, Italian producer/DJ Pops & Booms offered his mixing talent to create great remixes of both songs. Check them out and get into the groove! MINNO - Dance With Me (Pops & Booms Remix) MINNO - Dreaming (Pops & Booms Remix) The story continues... Beginning of 2014, J headed to Italy to work on some new tracks. Further away from the typical pop as before and under another artist name. History as a popstar? Step into the future. Are you curious to have a listen? JafJaf!

JAF goes desk safari, the new office trend.

There's a new trend in the office: desk safari! We hope your boss has a sense of humor or likes animals as much as his beloved co-workers. Why? The new hype hitting the office takes you on a trip to the jungle. Who's the fancy poodle of the team? Who's the lazy hippo? For once the characters of your colleagues can openly come out while you all have a laugh about it. Choose an animal, put a picture of it without the head fullscreen on your desktop and the party can begin. Let your office buddy pose behind your screen with only his/her head popping up. Or be a little bit nasty and take your snap sneaky without your colleague having a clue. ;-) Curious how good the creativity of your team is while jumping on the desk safari hype. At JAF we already gave a good example. You liiiiike? JafJaf!

The Yerka Project. The World’s first Unstealable Bike.

The Yerka project brings bicycle theft to an end - hopefully. Normally a bike is an easy target for thieves. We all know that. Esspecially in bigger cities you better watch out where to leave your bike. It doesn't matter how thick your padlock is or how frequently visited the place is where you leave your bike behind. Thieves always seem to find a way to get away with it. Three chilean engineering students have been victims of exactly the same. They teamed up and created the Yerka Project. A bicycle that once it is properly locked up, can only be stolen by destroying it. The locking mechanism is integrated in the bike's frame. You will open the frame and use the bike's saddle to lock it which will take around 20 seconds of your time. Next to this great idea the creators maintained the urban city look of the bike. The developed prototype is  a mixture of speed- and mountainbike with colourful details and generates a desire for more. JafJaf!

Discover the SMS Audio BioSport Headphones. SMS Audio has recently launched their sports collection. But now they are going to introduce the SMS Audio’s BioSport In-Ear Headphones. These headphones are a collaboration between Intel and SMS Audio, which was founded by the rapper 50 Cent aka Curtis Jackson. 50 Cent's aim was to create headphones with top-quality audio, style, fit and functionality. A Headphone is a headphone? Not these ones. The SMS Audio BioSport Headphones have sensors to measure the heart rate of the user. There is no need to wear a chest strap or a wearable and there are no batteries required. The headphones take their energy from a smartphone or MP3 player through an audio jack. Open the box, put them in your ears, plug them in your phone and it just works. “With the introduction of the SMS Audio BioSport In-Ear Headphones powered by Intel, we’re now the first to provide this level of integrated, seamless and helpful biometric information to inspire customers to advance their fitness experiences.” said Brian M. Nohe, president of SMS Audio, in a press release. To us this is a product we are now really waiting on to be released. It is easy to use and creates an extra value due to heart rate monitoring. Waiting to see what the pairing of SMS Audio and Intel will bring in the future. From what we know today, the headphones will work together with the popular fitness app RunKeeper for Android and iOS. It will be water resisdent, it will be available in the fourth quarter this year and the price should be around $150 according to the German newspaper Handelsblatt(approx. €112). JafJaf!

Dasparkhotel Bernepark Hotel
A night in a drain pipe.

Always in for a little adventure? Same here! How about spending the night in a robust drain pipe? We can surely recommend it as a cool experience.   Dasparkhotel Bernepark, located in Bottrop (near to Essen and a small 30 minutes drive from Düsseldorf), is quite something. Actually, we already spotted the hotel last year but were sadly not able to get there. Now was the time! The hotel exists out of five drain pipes (aka five suites), each suitable for two people to spend the night. Pure simplicity from the outside and surprisingly comfortable from the inside. You actually have full headroom, storage space underneath the bed, a wide eurofoam mattress and electricity to charge your laptop, mobile phone and camera. What more do you need?   We enjoyed the experience a lot. And you know what? You decide your own price! Because Dasparkhotel uses regular hotel facilities from surrounding public infrastructure, they work with the 'Pay as you wish' formula. Just give what you think it was worth and leave it in an envelope in your suite when you leave.   Did we get you curious? Ofcourse we did! The hotel is opened from May till October but due to the popularity, there's a limit in still available dates. Bookings via dasparkhotel.net. JafJaf!

Mission 20-FIT: The morning road to hotness
Mission 20-FIT: The morning road to hotness.

Here's J. A few weeks ago, Mission 20-FIT started with the goal to get in top shape for my 25th birthday. With the right music for running via Fitradio and motivation to hit the gym with Bodyjam, a lot of progress has already been made. Let's take it to the next level! Okay, the first three weeks were a good way to get warmed-up by saying no to sweets, crisps, alcohol and... bread. Gently onwards I started going back to the gym to do cardio and my running shoes also saw daylight again. It's great to have a goal (mine: to be in my best shape on September 21st) but you have to stay realistic and build-up wisely. Last week, I decided to take the next step, based on the cool Six-pack program of the German Men's Health magazine. Six of their employees took on the challenge to train eight weeks long to get their six-pack pumped. Really motivating to see how they managed. And so I started this week by also doing cardio every day, every damn day. But you know what? It's not that bad, on the contrary. For me the trick is to plan a routine in the mornings by preparing my sports outfit in the evening and putting my alarm half an hour earlier. It's just a matter of getting up, get dressed, drink a cup of coffee and wake-up while doing a half an hour morning run. Trust me: you feel way more active during the day.   By doing so, I managed to get faster every day without it taking me to my ultimate limit. On July 28th, it took me for example 30:42 for 6,22km. That's an average of 4min 56sec per kilometer. Compare that to my run of August 15th where I had an average of 4min 16sec for basically the same distance. That's 40 seconds per kilometer faster in just three weeks time. What I'm going to add to my running, cardio at the gym and healthy eating/drinking is the one thing I don't like so much: strength training. Wish me good luck! JafJaf!

The next crazy thing Dubai is planning: a temperature-controlled city.

The next crazy thing Dubai is going to build: a temperature-controlled city, known as the 'Mall of the World'. Dubai has always had a thing for showing off. They have Bugatti police cars, the world's tallest buildings and an underwater hotel. But now, they are going to build the world's first integrated temperature-controlled city and an indoor theme park, covered by a retractable glass dome that opens during winter months. It will be located in the Al Sufouh district, close to the water front. If everything goes as planned, the shopping and entertainment complex will include a Broadway-style theater district; a pedestrian walkway modeled on Barcelona’s Las Ramblas; a 6.9-km retail network of roads, based on London’s Oxford Street; 20,000 hotel rooms; underground parking; an indoor family theme park and a “wellness district” for medical tourists. We call that a clear understatement. JafJaf!

H&M’s Fall/Winter 2014 Studio Collection
A closer look: H&M Fall/Winter 2014 Men Studio Collection

In 2013 designer Isabel Marant created a complete new fashion driven H&M fall/winter collection for men. The new H&M Fall/Winter 2014 Collection is following up this trend towards a "high fashion" appeal with their new Studio collection for men (and women). Today, in 2014, the new collection includes a motorcycle jacket and leather biker pants going along with very grungy silhouettes in combination with a toned down color palette of whites, grey and black. Next to all those punk and rock-inspired items, there is a substential number of more classic, formal garments like clean wool coats, tailored trousers and shirts. Matching sneakers, boots, shoes, scarves, caps and beanies complete this promising and versatile collection. Release date for the refined looks is September 4th in selected stores and online. Let's hope that the collections quality will pay tribute to these great styles. We are very optimistic. Discover the complete video lookbook of the H&M Fall/Winter 2014 collection and the slideshow below. JafJaf!

Selfmade Cinnamon rolls Franzbrötchen recipe
Yummy! Selfmade German cinnamon rolls “Franzbrötchen”.

One of the many things Germans are good at: delicious selfmade cake and pastries. Esspecially in the northern part the so called 'Franzbrötchen', comparable with swedish cinnamon rolls, are a yummy specialty.  Back from Berlin we needed to try our very own receipe. YumYum. This is what you need for about 12 pieces: For the baking sheet: baking paper Yeast dough: 250 ml milk 70 g butter 500 g of wheat flour 1 pack.  Dry Yeast 70 g sugar 2 tsp vanilla sugar 1 egg (size M) a touch of salt Filling: 100 g soft butter 100 g sugar 3 tsp. cinnamon To glaze: about 2 tablespoons of milk And here is your manual: 1.Preparing: Heat the milk in a small saucepan and melt the butter in it. 2. Yeast dough: Fill the flour and yeast in a mixing bowl. Then add all other ingredients including  the warm milk-butter mixture and mix everything with a mixer (dough hook). Start shortly to mix on the lowest level, then process at the highest level in about 5 min until the dough is smooth. Cover the dough and let it rise in a warm place until it has grown visibly. (around 30 min) 3. Preheat the oven. Top / bottom heat: about 180 ° C Hot air: about 160 ° C 4. Filling: Blend the butter, sugar and cinnamon with a mixer (stirring rods). Knead the dough on a lightly floured work surface and roll it out to a rectangle (about 70 x 25 cm). Afterwards spread out the cinanamon filling evenly and roll everything up from the longer side. Finally cut the role in about 12 equal trapeze-shaped cuts. Now place the cuts with the elongated side down on the baking sheet and press with a wooden spoon handle from the top to the narrow edge.. Let the rolls stay for another 10 min. 5. Sprinkle the buns with milk and then bake them. Oven inset: center Baking time: about 20 min. When finished, let the 'Franzbrötchen'  cool down on a wire rack or serve them warm. Enjoy your freshly, selfmade 'Franzbrötchen'. JafJaf!

99 moments of New York by Menzkie
99 locations of New York.

We love Berlin, Düsseldorf and Antwerp, but don't we all love New York just a little bit more? New York is with its 10 million inhabitants a city of big ideas and an even bigger landscape. NY-based filmmaker Menzkie has compiled various city moments while cruising over the Staten Island Ferry to the Top of the Rock in Midtown. Enjoy '99 Locations of New York' and let's then talk about booking our next trip to the Big Apple. Thumbs up! A trip to the Big Apple sure wouldn't hurt after seeing this.

FLY Watergate open airs at Rummelsburg.

The sun is shining, the Summer mood is there and you want to get your body moving! In Berlin you have the famous FLY Watergate open air parties in Rummelsburg. After a day of cultural wandering in Berlin on Saturday, we had our party plan for the Sunday. And how great was it. With two stages, a more eclectic main stage for the energetic dancing and a more 'chill' beach stage, the FLY open air party on Sunday brought us in our best Summer festival mood. Isn't it great to dance with your naked feet, surrounded by nature and a great view on the water? We loved it. People who plan to still go to Berlin during Summer: check out the Watergate website because there are still some great parties coming up. People from Düsseldorf: check out Kiesgrube. ;-) JafJaf!

The most refreshing fruity mojitos.

During Summer it's very, very, very important to keep hydrated. Yes, we try to get our recommended amount of water in, but now and then a nice cocktail is welcome to take care of the thirst. Our favorite: the mojito! There are actually so many different mojitos. We lined up our favorite fruity ones from Yummly for the weekend. Do we hear a party coming up? TGIF! JafJaf! Cranberry mojito Kiwi mojito Tripple berry mojito Rhubarb mojito Watermelon mojito Coconut mango mojito

Kisses from Berlin
Kisses from Berlin.

Woohooh! We're on Holiday! After our big move in February and starting a new job in March, it was time to take a little walk on the free side. That's why we decided to grab our Belgian friend, Joke, and to cruise towards the lovely Berlin. We start off with a classic one day city tour through Berlin. But instead of taking one of the tourist busses, we take the legendary bus line 100, starting from Bahnhof Zoo towards the Alexanderplatz. It stops at all the main attractions and if you get off, just minutes later the next one passes by. There even is a an app for ios that works as an audio guide for the full route. We anyway managed to check-out the Siegesäule, the Bundestag, the Kansleramt, Brandenburger Tor, the Jewish monument and the Fernsehturm at the Alexanderplatz. A great shot of culture if you ask us. Mission 20-fit
Mission 20-FIT.

J here. I've made a sporty decision that I might regret at first but most definitely will be very grateful for later... With my 25th birthday coming up in September, it's time to make some things happen. It's time to gain some volume around my arms, to shape-up and to get that six-pack that has nothing to do with German or Belgian beer. Not by starving myself out with diets, but by doing lots of (fun) sports and by keeping myself on a healthy food plan. Bye bye, lazy evenings, crisps, bread, alcohol,... Hello 20-fit? The next two months I will be reporting my progress and share my tips and tricks into making it happen. Lets hope I can make you guys proud of me. JafJaf!

Hotel Attrap' Reves in Marseilles, France
These hotels are sick.

Looking for a hotel that gives you thé most unforgettable experience? You've come to the right address. We've listed 14 hotels as a must-sleep-at checklist. JafJaf! Icehotel - Jukkasjärvi, Sweden Icehotel is the first and largest (5500m²) hotel build out of snow. The hotel gets rebuild every year around November - December, which takes around 100 people. Open for cool guests from December - mid-April. Whitepod Hotel - Swiss Alps, Switzerland It's like camping but instead of sleeping in a sleeping bag, you just received a 5 star accommodation. Whitepod is all about being ecologic and being one with nature but without giving up on luxury. Attrap Reves - Marseilles, France You, your lover and the starry sky. This place is perfect for romantic nights where you actually don't feel like closing your eyes. Your personal bubble offers the needed privacy but allows you to see everything that's happening in the sky. The Mirrorcube Treehotel - Harads, Sweden Remember building a treehouse in your childhood? This 4x4x4 hotel sure gives it a bit more arty touch. Covered with mirrored walls, it feels like you're completely hidden in nature. Hotel Not Hotel - Amsterdam, The Netherlands In this hotel in the centre of Amsterdam, every room has its own story with its own design. It's like living in a museum. Poseidon Undersea Resort - Fiji This 5 star accommodation exchanges the big blue sky for the deep blue ocean. Can you find Nemo? The Atomium - Brussels, Belgium Ever slept in a monument? Ngorongoro Crater Lodge - Ngorongoro, Tanzania This Lodge offers a small garden of approx. 8300 km². The Ngorongoro Crater often gets called 'Africa's Eden', we call it quite the view at least. The Oberoi - New Delhi, India And we'll never be royals? We do think so. Jade Mountain - Soufriere, St. Lucia This summer sanctuary is definitely one of the Caribbean’s most mesmerizing resort experiences. But watch out: Jade Mountain is techno-free: there are no telephones, radio or television. Relax: Internet access is available at the reception. :-) Nhow Hotel - Berlin, Germany If you're staying in a capital city as cool as Berlin, go the extra mile and stay in a cool place. The Nhotel, that all about music should do the trick. It's like waking up in a recording studio. Amangiri Resort - Utah, USA Amangiri stands for peaceful mountain. Makes sense if you think about it, since the resort is in the middle of nowhere, tucked into a protected valley with sweeping views over colourful, stratified rock towards the Grand Staircase. Ubud Hanging Gardens - Payangan, Bali This is most definitely F's favorite. But can you blame him? Look at those infinity pools, the nature and... those infinity pools! Fairy Chimney Hotel - Goreme, Turkey Who can say they ever slept in a cave? Cavemen? This guesthouse with floor heating and a personal Hamam in each room, doesn't offer great luxury, it also has a great mountain view.

Oxford Uni’s all-male a capella group sings Shakira.

We'll have to confirm that the Warlblers from Glee do exist in real life. They study and sing a capella at Oxford University, calling themselves Out of the Blue. The boys recorded a Shakira medley and released the single with a sassy video for charity. All profits go to the Helen and Douglas House, hospice care for terminally ill children and young adults. Hips don't lie and these guys sure know how to shake them! JafJaf!

Wow: The first Holographic Smartphone. Takee 1.

Rememer the first holographic messages in Star Wars coming from R2-D2? Or Tom Cruise in Minority Report? Those and others have shown the way into the future: quickly switch on a small machine, wild gesturing with the hands in the air and there it is: the operating scenario via holographic technic. This all seemed like science-fiction to most of us on planet earth but the Chinese company Shenzhen Estar Displaytech Co. claims to have the first holographic phone, ready to enter the market. Discover the Takee 1. Since end of June the company has their very first video online on YouTube, showing the Takee 1 in action and this Thursday the company will even present the Holo Phone. 4 different cameras on the front of the smartphone are helping to capture every detail in the right dimension, angle and timing. The manufacturer calls this technology 'Smart Holographics'. The video is pretty impressive and it already looks like Tom Cruise would use the phone in his next science fiction blockbuster. Wow. JafJaf!

Restaurants with a breathtaking view.

Dinner at a restaurant can taste twice as good when you have something nice to look at. Having said that, here you have six cool restaurants, spread over the globe, that will probably make you get quite hungry. The Grotto - Krabi, Thailand It couldn't get more romantic than this: this restaurant was build in an ancient cave, giving you a magnificent view over the Phranang Beach while you warm up for dinner with a lovely cocktail. Sirocco - Bangkok, Thailand Thailand doesn't seem too bad for dining. From the 63rd floor of the State Towers, the crazy metropole called Bangkok turns into a sea of lights. Sirocco is not only famous for being the world's highest  open-air restaurant with a killer view, the Wagyu steak should also be divine. El Farallón - Cabo San Lucas, Mexico On your plate: fresh sea fruits, straight from the grill. In your face: the Pacific, reflecting all the colors of the beautiful sunset. Fangweng - Yichang, China Afraid of heights? If the answer is yes, than it's wise to skip Fangweng. If not, enjoy the view from this restaurant that actually hangs on a cave. Real daredevils even have the opportunity to do a bungee jump. Maybe best before eating... Grotta Palazzese - Polignano a Mare, Italy A real romance maker. You, your loved one, candlelight dinner, the Adriatic sea and a restaurant that's carved inside of a cave. Great to score some extra points. Clouds - Hamburg, Germany Who ever said you have to travel far to discover the world? Also near to home you can enjoy something incredible. At Clouds you can get a mighty good steak on the 23rd floor of the 'Tanzende Türme' and meanwhile enjoy the supplementary view over wonderful Hamburg. JafJaf!

Visit Stockholm: Icebar
Visit: Stockholm Ice bar.

We'd like to share a great ice-cold travel tip with you for your next journey to Stockholm. Last year we visited the great Swedish capital with J's birthday in September. Les Mills, the company of the great fitness classes like BodyJam, BodyPump and BodyCombat invited us for the filming of their new classes during the Super Saturday. As sportloving Les Mills fans we of course couldn't say no and brought  our favorite Bodyjamster, Joke, along. We'll talk more about Les Mills in a later post, so be prepared. Our cool tip for your visit to Stockholm: a nightly stop in the Stockholm Ice bar by Icehotel. You will get there through the lobby of the Nordic Sea Hotel, practically next to the central station (Vasaplan 4, Stockholm city). The Icebar in Stockholm was the very first in its kind and is opened through the entire year. After putting on your cosy poncho, you can enter the bar with its chilly -5 degrees of Celsius. The complete bar exists out of ice. Ceiling, walls, the bar, ice sculptures and even the glasses that are filled with different kind of delicious longdrinks are existing out of... ice! Really worth the visit to this experience. Perfect to get an aperitif after dinner or as a "warming-up" for the Swedish nightlife. In your entry fee one drink is already included. Do reserve if you're with more than three cause it sure is a place-to-be. JafJaf!

DIY: Pick-your-color flowerpot
DIY: Personalized pick-your-color flowerpot.

Yes, it's the time of the year when you hear the birds chirp, the bees buzz and you think: let's do some gardening! In our apartment in Düsseldorf we can't really do gardening since we basically don't have a garden, but we're determined to have an awesome green spot on the balcony. Booyah! If you also have your green zone on the balcony, you probably agree with us that not only your plants and flowers should look nice, so should the pots you plant them in. That's why we have this little easy DIY which will make you enjoy summer just a tiny bit more. Get some cheap pots at a do-it-yourself nearby. We got ourself some made of stone at Obi (big one was € 2,49, the smaller one € 1,79). Next thing: spray paint in a color you like. Since we sprayed our chairs at the dining table in pastel tones, we decided to take the same direction here. Tip: go for matte. It just looks way better.   Now you can get yourself installed for the action. Cover a table with newspaper, shake your bottle of paint for about two minutes and get spraying! Be sure to keep the bottle at a twenty cm distance from your pot while you spray and just give the whole surface a thin layer. In thirty minutes your pot should be dry and ready for use. We planted some strawberry plants in our personalized pastel flowerpots. Can't wait for them to grow and eventually find their way to our tummy.   Next to the strawberries we also planted lavender and an eucalyptus tree in non-personalized-but-nevertheless-pretty black pots. You should smell our place. De-lish! Enjoy gardening. JafJaf! Herrlich! Viel Spaß beim gärtnern. JafJaf!

JAF goes sushi: Okinii
JAF goes Sushi: Okinii.

JAF goes Sushi - Our sushi test for Dusseldorf has now oficially  started. Part 1: Okinii LunchIn for sushi? Yeah, same here. Last week we decided to hook up with some friends and to try the all-you-can-eat à la (ipad) carte lunch at Okinii. The concept of the sushi chain is actually really easy. Per person you can order every round up to five to eight dishes via your personal iPad. That means that when you're with four, you can order up to 32 different dishes in one round. Just so you know: you have an unlimited amount of rounds in your two and a half hours of sushi. But be aware: if you order something that you don't eat, you will have to pay extra for it.   You can order quite a lot from the electronic menu. Sushi, soups, salads, fingerfood, grillspecialities, teppan yaki,... Yum! In the evening there's an even wider range to choose from than during lunchtime. Little tip: leave a bit of space in your tummy for desert. After the sushi you can still choose three scoops of ice of sesam, mango, green tea or lime. Must-try! The athmosphere is loungy and decorations are quite tastefull. Only point of criticism: when it's full (which it mostly is), it's not the most silent place.   Our highlights on the menu:- The iPad menu itself. Cool concept.- Tuna Gunkan.- Giyoza, baked dumpling with chicken.- Chuka Ika Sansai, spicy seaweed salad.- Veggie Roll with avocado and sesam. Prices:Lunch: week: 13,90€ // weekend: 15,90€Dinner: 25,90€ Big recommendation for everyone who likes good quality food for a super sushi price. Do reserve a few days in advance. Otherwise you can forget about getting a table. Adress: Immermannstraße 35, Dusseldorf. JafJaf! ____________________ JAF goes Sushi - Unser Sushi Test für Düsseldorf startet jetzt. Zeren Badar, the penniless photographer
The penniless photographer.

Since a bit than over a year we've been following @z_captures on Instagram, liking almost every picture he posts since his photos are basically always awesome. At the end of last year he started with a new series, which is really a work of art. Zeren Badar is a Turkish self-taught photographer, currently based in New York. Influenced by Dadaism and Neo-Dadaism, he started his 'Accident'-series in which he combines cheap copies of famous paintings with food, objects and strong shadows. This creates a cool three dimensional form of art, brought together on a photograph and always tending to bring a big smile on your face. Zeren, also calling himself 'the penniless photographer', is actually still looking for a gallery to exhibit. So all you art lovers, help this talented guy out and share his story. We're fans and can't wait to once have our own pictures undergoing one of his accidents! JafJaf! JafJaf!

Paradise: Zanzibar.

Do you know the yearly feeling of excitement around February/March when you want to plan your Summer escape and say: „Let’s do something special this year, something we will always remember. Let’s live it up!“? Last year we most certainly did plan that special unforgettable vacation. We booked our flights to Zanzibar, the beautiful island next to Tanzania in East Africa. At arrival, our -yet to become- friend Mohammed waits for us with his taxi. „Djambo djambo, my friends! I will take you through my beautiful country“. Well, off we go. Since we wanted to see a lot of Zanzibar, we booked a Bungalow Lodge in the South for our first week, to move to the more touristic North during halftime of the Holiday. On our two hour drive towards the first stay, Mohammed decides to be a bit spontaneous and stops for a treat of freshly cut coconut. No extra charge. Could you imagine a taxi in Europe stopping to buy you a pretzel or an ice-cream? Unbelievable. During the rest of the trip towards the South, Mohammed advises us about the different excursions, the do’s and don’ts in Zanzibar and explains the sad political/economical situation of this paradise. This was the most personal and genuine taxi-ride we’ve ever taken. We directly made arrangements for the drive from the South to the North. Arriving in Paje, we drop our bags in our bungalow, get seated on the terrace, watch the pearly white deserted beach like you only see in movies and hear the relaxing sound of waves come back and forth and back and forth. Paradise. The next morning we awake with the sun having a peek in our room around six. A smile on our faces, the balcony door open and breakfast is served. While eating our delicious fruits, eggs and a local kind of bread, we decide to explore the beach while going for a run and to take the rest of the day off. Hakuna matata. :) Paje is quite known for its kite surfers. It’s not (yet) the most touristic place but surfers seam to swear for the spot since the water is flat and the waves and the wind streams are great for them. You even have some schools here to learn the right skills. Though tempted to get on a board, we decide to learn the skills at home and to definitely come back. Activities we did do are highly recommendable for an unforgettable experience. Dolphin swimming is one of them, just be prepared to get up early as hell. Autch. It was at four in the morning when a jeep was waiting for us. Still half a sleep we manage to get into the car that later on picks up Kassandra, Kay and Katie, our new Canadian friends. They talk about an addictive game called Candy crush and how they are waiting for their friends to give them a new life via Facebook. We kind of liked it and soon are all prepared to meet the dolphins… after finishing level 32 of Candy crush. You might have heard or experienced the dolphin swimming in touristic places like Florida where the animals are living in captivity. This is no such thing. In Zanzibar you have a group of wild dolphins that every morning swims towards the same spot looking for food. A speedboat brings you there and than it’s up to you to jump in the refreshing (read: ice-cold) water and to swim between twenty, thirty, maybe forty dolphins. No words can describe this. Let’s just say: it’s amazing. On our way back, we talk to the girls about joining for a sailboat trip later the week. Great idea and so we enjoyed a more traditional and touristic, but nevertheless very enjoyable, excursion that takes you to a deserted island for an all-you-can-eat seafood bbq. On the way towards the island, the boat stops for snorkeling and sunbathing on a sandbank with crystal clear blue water. We really loved our stay in Paje. It even was a bit sad to leave it behind when Mohammed was greeting us with a most friendly „Djambo djambo, friends“ when picking us up for part two of the holiday. During the three hour drive in direction of Nungwi, we took a break at a spices farm. Though we think this was really interesting, it might not be for everyone. People who like to see where their coffee comes from and never realized that pineapples actually come out of the ground are up for a treat. And anyway, it’s nice to have a stop in between the ride. Nungwi is completely different than Paje. Here you see a big clash between South and North, which doesn’t mean one of them is less enjoyable. We stayed at a new five star hotel, called Hideaway of Nungwi. Luxury and service are the keywords at this palace. A great place for relaxing, swimming, buffet surfing, … A great place to get spoiled. Look out for good deals end May till mid June when the raining season is over. We really enjoyed the great service, a classy junior suite with sea view, dips in the infinity pool and peace and quite. Ultimate relaxing-proofed. Every month you have a full moon party in Nungwi. People from all over the African continent travel to Zanzibar just for this famous parties. Of course JAF was present. And, yes, it’s really cool to have an open air party with pounding music to dance to on the beach. But don’t travel to Zanzibar just for the party. The hang-over is just as bad (or even worse) as in Germany. Autch. Thank god, the pool and its service welcomed us the next afternoon with open arms. „Can I have a wine please?“ A day trip to Stone Town was our last excursion. Interesting to see this really old town, which is an UNESCO world heritage site with arabic and indian influences. We hired a local guide to explain the history and to get to know the life of the locals. From our point of view one day at Stonetown is long enough. The last days we just enjoyed, relaxed and went to our morningly gym session (since the food was too good). Writing about it lets all the good memories come back and brings a big smile on our faces. If you are planning a trip and still need some help we are of course happy to help. We highly recommend our hotels:- Domokuchu Lodge, Paje (South).- Hideaway of Nungwi Resort & Spa, Nungwi (North). JAF-tips:- Don’t forget your injections + the yellow card to prove you had them.- Change money at arrival. Credit cards are not everywhere accepted.- Always negotiate prices. It’s more than normal.- Restaurants are cheap. No need to look for a supermarket.- Be open and talk to the locals. They are friendly and are happy to help.- Don't forget your GoPro! Djambo djambo! JafJaf!

It's in the details
Details make the difference: Gemini.

It's not easy for men to find stylish accessories. If you want to have something nice, you're mostly obliged to look between the more high-level brands. Let's face it: women have more luck in this area. Or at least, they had... Yes, gentlemen who are looking for something unique, weither they are sporty or business, will from now on find their arm candy at Gemini Bracelets. The Belgian premium brand, founded by twin brothers Marc and Rob Beenders, started out with a personal need for nice accessories for men. Since they were not happy with the available assortment, they just created their own label. Well done, guys.   First in the Gemini-line are the bracelets with beads in different trend-oriented colors. From basic black, to spring green. We really like the tiger eye brown (that makes F's eyes pop) and the tricolor. Each one has its own feel and is perfectly combinable to bring that little extra. Recently the deluxe leather wristbands, that really give that more premium understatement look, joined the family.   We probably don't have to tell you that we're big fans of Gemini. We both have a beads- and a leather bracelet and feel like we're rocking them. How do you like it?   Stylish men who are interested or women who just found the perfect present for their love, can get their bracelets in shops around Belgium, the Netherlands and Portugal (hopefully soon in Germany?) or online via gemini-bracelets.com. Big like! JafJaf!
Favorite Restaurant in Düsseldorf: Nooij

The 8th of May 2011? We remember that beautiful day as it was yesterday. It was the start of J and F, JAF. Three years later, we wanted to celebrate our anniversary with a nice dinner. Place to be was Nooij (to pronounce as the German worth 'neu'), from owner Nene Nooij. Nene calls himself a European with his Dutch, German and Spanish background. He opened his Scandinavian/sixties-designed restaurant in Düsseldorf, Flingern, where he brings a healthy international kitchen. Yummy! Since it's asparagus season and we absolutely love this delicious vegetable, we decided to go for an asparagus creme soup as a starter. De-li-ci-ous! Later onwards the food party continued with an asparagus/walnut pie for J and a strawberry/asparagus/tuna salad for F. You can be very sure: our plates were quickly empty. When browsing through the menu, we also took a quick look at the breakfast specials. Here you can clearly see the different international influences that Nooij has. When ordering a Dutch breakfast for example, you get vanilla custard, sprinkles, gouda and bread with peanut butter. When going for the Spanish treat, you can be sure of getting deliciously baked chorizo, manchego and fried eggs . If we can get up early enough, we'll definitely try this out on Sunday morning. Very recommendable restaurant! JafJaf!

Summer walk in the Netherlands
A Summer walk in the Netherlands.

Did you know that J from JAF is actually half Belgian, half Dutch? Now you do. Since his mom is originally from the Zeeland area, he's quite familiar with the nice places to go there. Today you'll benefit from that since we're giving away one of them. On the same Sunday as we did the Antwerp 10 Miles-run, we got up early to clear our heads while going for a nice family walk. An ideal location for that is 'het Veerse meer' in Zeeland, not far from the Dutch border.   During Summer, this lake is ideal for surfing since there's -surprise surprise- mostly a good wind in the Netherlands. Directly next to it, there's a grass beach to lay down and to get a tan or for having a cosy picknick. There are even some picknick tables available. In Spring, this spot is perfect for a nice walk, inline skating or jogging. When we're visiting Antwerp, we always like to take the dog and go here for an hour or two. Luna always loves to run around on the paths, sniff the grass, to then jump in the water and run around again. Sometimes even in a different order.

Run JAF, run
Run JAF, run.

Just like in 2013, we decided to have another sportive highlight of the year and to participate in the DVV Antwerp 10 Miles (16.28km). Small difference: in 2013 there were 25.000 participants, in 2014 a small 41.000. With us right in the middle. And what a great event. In the morning, the marathon runners start, around noon there's a 5km run and a Chiquita Kids run of 1.4km, and the main thing of the day: the 10 Miles. Because of the big amount of sporty people, the run was divided in three waves (15.00/15.30/16.00). F started his run at 15h and J had his turn at 16h.   If you've ever participated in an official run or marathon, you completely understand the excitement of such an event. Thousands of people standing at the sideline, cheering for you, clapping their hands, reaching out  refreshing drinks,... If you don't watch out, you quickly get swept away and get goosebumps all over your body. This all gives a great extra motivation and makes you run your best time ever. Man, did we have fun. It do is tough, as specially when you're almost at the finish line and still have to get up the Waaslandtunnel. We don't like to swear, but that's kind of a b*tch. When you get out, there's still about a kilometer or two to run till the promised land. Heaven.   Final results of our Antwerp 10 Miles-run:J = Place 6069 in 1:21:49F= Place 738 in 1:07:51 (Best German!) In for the thrill in 2015? Go for it and combine with a nice weekend of Antwerp. There's really a lot to see, to discover and to taste... Belgian chocolate, fries (Frituur No.1) and an incredible range of Belgian beers. JafJaf! (more…)

You'd love to sweat in this
You’d love to sweat in this.

Sporty people deserve fancy sporty outfits. As specially for men, sport clothing tends to be a bit dull. Reebok does do efforts to change this, but sadly we barely find shops where they sell a wide range of Reebok. We wouldn’t be JAF if we didn’t do a bit of browsing and found something cool to wear for the Antwerp 10 miles. Let’s sweat in style! F wanted to get himself a pair of flashy running shoes. He spotted the Nike and Newbalance sneakers-trend in Düsseldorf, which are great for a sporty look, but not ideal for an intensive work-out. Since F is an expert in online shopping, he browsed the www and found his new pair of puppies: the new Adizero Adios Boost. They now help him swing over the road and, you have to admit, they do look extra fly for a bright guy.   J is already for a long time satisfied with his Nikes and just buys the same pair in a different color when he’s in need of new ones. He now wanted some funky trousers. Also here you have a bit the problem that options for mens sport trousers are limited. Short or long, tight or loose, that’s mostly it. Not fair!   For the good cause, we went snooping around the female sport section and found an awesome low crotch training shorts from Nike Dri-Fit. Would he? …Well actually, yes he would and good that he did! How do you like our ready-to-runble-outfits? JafJaf! Fair? Ähm…klares Nein.   Also was bleibt anderes übrig als sich ganz unverblümt einmal in der Damenabteilung nebenan umzusehen. Und was findet man dort ohne Probleme? JafJaf!

Meet: Bubble football.

There's nothing better than the feeling of sweat dripping down your face after an awesome workout. Or maybe there is... We just discovered something quite unbelievable: Bubble football! This sport from Denmark just found its way to Germany (even with its own national competition). The idea behind it is practically the same as from classic football. Small difference: the players are walking bubbles, bumping into each other while trying to get the ball in the goal of the opponent. Hi-la-ri-ous! We're definitely gonna look for a team in the Düsseldorf area. Interested in joining, let us know on info@jaftime.com. And else: see you soon in the bumping and bouncing competition! JafJaf!

Get those buttons up
Get those buttons up.

While walking around in the Dusseldorf city center, we bumped into the shopping window of a really nice deco-shop, called Wohnplaner. Since we were quite actively looking for lights and a wardrobe, we decided to have a look inside. Happy we did. In our last apartment, we quite quickly agreed on all the nice things you could find at Ikea. Nothing wrong with that (we still have some Ikea-stuff), but this time we wanted to make it a bit more personal, a bit more us, with elements that you're not able to find in most of the nicely styled apartments of friends. When we were still living in Antwerp, we already bumped into some kind of buttons that you can attach on the wall and connect with a rope. The rope than functions as a connection to hang jackets and pictures. Cool idea but the price tag attached to it didn't make us buy it. Now, at Wohnplaner, it directly crossed our sight. They have similar buttons from HK Living in all kind of colors and sizes for a reasonable price. Now these little eye-catchers look dashing on our hallway, ready to take the jackets of guests.   There are still a lot of treasures in the assortment of our newly discovered deco-store. The people there are very friendly and they even help you with interior advice. We'll definitely go back when we finally decide what kind of light to hang in the living room (it's a tough choice, no?). Already standing on our dining room, is a kind of futuristic vase, perfectly matching our more modern home. JafJaf! Was meinst ihr dazu? Passt perfekt in unser neues Heim. JafJaf!

Drive now Düsseldorf
Drive… now!

Some weeks ago we found an offer from DriveNow, the carsharing service from BMW and MINI, where they lowered the subscription fee from 29.95€ to 4.99€. You can find their cars in Dusseldorf, Cologne, Berlin, Hamburg, Munich and San Francisco. So we decided to try it out. After your online subscription you receive a confirmation e-mail which asks you to stop by at a Sixt servicepoint with your ID, drivers licence and your bank-/creditcard. There you receive your DriveNow-ID that will get you on the road. Still quickly download the DriveNow App for Android or iOS and you are good to go! Last Sunday, we enjoyed the lovely sun in Dusseldorf at the Fischmarkt and since we had to get home in time (and just absolutely were in a Mini-mood), we tried out the DriveNow App. And look at that: at only 400m distance a ride was waiting for us. Quickly reserve the car for 15min and follow the integrated navigation towards the vehicle.   When you arrive at the car, the procedure is quite easy: There's a scanner at the windshield that shows the availability of the vehicle (red light: booked, yellow light: reserved and -bingbing- green: this car is available). Now hold your DriveNow-ID infront of the scanner, wait for the green light to turn into a yellow hourglass and -click- the car unlocks. When you enter the car, you get a short welcome message that asks you for your personal PIN and then: DriveNow. :-) From there onwards we cruised through Dusseldorf to get to our apartment. The MINI was very new, clean and even the 197cm tall F didn't have troubles to fit in the car. When we would've been with more than two, we do would've have to opt for a BMW because someone extra wouldn't have fit on the backseat. What was really good, was the build-in navigation that guided us through the city.   When you arrive at your destination, you just park the car at a free spot, end your booking in the menu and scan your DriveNow-ID one last time at the scanner at the windshield till the light turns green. Your Mini is locked and ready for its next driver. Long story short: We're very positive about the DriveNow service. It does have a pricetag, but therefore you get a nice range of the MINI and BMW 1 vehicles to choose from. With more than 200 cars in Dusseldorf, the chance to get a ride is quite high and, let's face it, you don't have any responsabilities. Get in, drive, get out. Big recommendation! JafJaf!

Summer-dish: Tomato mozzarella with avocado dip.

The doorbell rings.

Der Paketbote hat geklingelt... Meilenshopping! (more…)

DIY: A warm welcome.

(more…)

Go green.

F speaking. Now that the move to Düsseldorf is more or less done, I took the opportunity to try my new KitchenAid Blender. I have read so much about all these green smoothies that I felt like doing it by myself, instead of paying a small fortune in a shop. And see: it is quick, easy and healthy. Exactly what I was looking for. It is the bitter substances in the raw green salads and vegetables wich you barely find in food today. Everything tastes sweet or salty, and when you think about it there is some truth in it, no? The greens stimulate your digestion and only with a good functioning digestive system, all the nutrients and viral substances can reach every cell of your body.  But enough talking, let's see what you need to start the day green. :-) For a basic green smoothie you need the following: (2 glasses) spinach leaves or green salad leaves of a carrot bundle Broccoli Lemon Juice 1 Banana 1/2 Mango Water Now I just put everything in my KitchenAid Blender and fill it up with one glass of water. Then I close the blender with the cover and start it for about one minute. Finished.    In general the fruits are only used to neutralize the bitterness. So you can vary with the fruits you want to use and the amount. Other possibilities are e.g. pineapple, pears or a sweeter sort of apple. For the greens you have a wide range of what you can use: rocket salad, chicory, radicchio, endives or broccoli, cauliflower and even more.   As you can see, this is very easy and it is up to all of us to experiment and find our personal favorite green smoothie. There is no need to follow strict rules and measurements of how much of each ingredient is needed. Already on your way to get your blender from the basement? ;-) Have fun, and go green. JafJaf!

Hallelujah Allsaints at Karstadt
Hallelujah: AllSaints in Düsseldorf!

AllSaints lovers, the search for a store is over. As Düsseldorf offers many things, an AllSaints collection is also one of them. I have a small confession to make... If you're out shopping with me, it's mostly best to avoid certain shops. At some brands I can just spend hours to try on shirts and t-shirts (I hate trying on pants), which makes it most likely that you'll be sitting on a chair, checking what's new on Facebook for the 5th time. Premium British brand AllSaints is one of those labels that makes my brain go un poco loco. This fashion retailer from Spitalfields (London) just always seems to amaze me with their timeless toned down collections. I have to admit being a bit sad when I couldn't directly find a shop of them in fashion city Düsseldorf. But you know what? There is a god! Apparently Karstadt (on the Schadowstraße) welcomed the Brits to Düsseldorf. Also English brands like Ted Baker, French Connection and Topshop feel at home in this shopping paradise. The current collection contains some great leather jackets. Also the famous basic tonic scoop t-shirts with their typical AllSaints neck has widened the range with some new colors. You could've already guessed that my shopping bag didn't stay empty... Catch of the day: a new AllSaints basic in a washed clay color (€ 35)+ 3 pair of funny Topshop socks (€ 10). JafJaf!

We have company in Düsseldorf
Düsseldorf Tour: We have company…

This weekend, we were able to welcome our very first visitors in the brand new JAF Düsseldorf apartment. The J-family came over from Belgium to take a preview look at the new crib, which they of course more than approved. As a nice Sunday activity, we decided to explore Düsseldorf with the family, including happy four-footed Luna. On this little excursion we managed to see some nice highlights of the city on a short period of time. Perfect for an afternoon walk. Our escapade started at the central station (Hauptbahnhof), where we took tram 709 in direction of Theodor-Heuss-Platz, till we got off at Stadttor. For little Luna this was directly quite the experience since it was her first time on public transportation. Oh, that funny dog. :-) When arriving at Stadttor we went in direction of the trendy media harbor. This hip area at the Rhein has on the one side the famous Ghery houses, constructed by American-Canadian architect Frank Ghery, and on the other side the remarkable currywurst stand where you can get currywurst with real gold leafs. Try it.   Since silver is more our kind of color, we decided to walk further and to later onwards opt for an ice-cream. While walking along the riverside, headed towards the old city center (and our beloved ice-cream), we passed the high in the sky tv-tower and the parliament of NRW. After a 30 minute walk, we arrived at the Burgplatz. These stairs, that are connecting the waterside with the old city center, are as specially popular during the summertime for having a drink in a mixed crowd. The atmosphere is very relaxed and it's actually also a great spot for a nice photo moment. Snap! A few streets further we enjoyed the most supercalifragilisticexpialidocious yummy famous Italian ice-cream ever at Eisbar Pia. A must-visit on warm days. But be prepared... to stand in the cue. FYI: 1 scoop = € 0,80. On the walk back to our starting point, we recommend a stop at the colorful Toykio. This cafe not only serves great coffee, it also fulfills the appetite of toy- and art lovers. Shopaholics can still do some window-shopping at the Schadowstraße and the Königsallee, since all shops are closed on Sundays. Thank god we were there on a Kaufsontag, which basically means the shops were open. Luna.was.thrilled. To make our long story short: we had a great afternoon and so had our guests. For those who're planning a trip to Düsseldorf, feel free to click on the map below where we've marked our highlights of the day. Or just leave us a message on info@jaftime.com. JafJaf!

We're JAF
Hi! We’re JAF.

JAF, that's J and F! Two guys in fashion with a passion for travel, sports, gadgets, love & life! Do you remember the 8th of May, 2011? Well, we certainly do. It was a sunny Sunday. It was the day a German guy met a Belgian guy in Antwerp. It was unfortunately not as warm as it appeared to be. And it was then that the German guy gave his denim jacket to the freezing Belgian guy who only whore a t-shirt and shorts. It was the start of J&F, JAF. Meanwhile we’ve been through a lot together, living every day to the max. From renovating our dirty old apartment in Antwerp, to driving three extra days with a mobile home in trying to avoid toll roads while driving to the French coast, to visiting the magnificent Northern light in Iceland at -15°C, till everyday life while both working in Fashion. And let’s not forget about that time in Zanzibar when we swam with wild dolphins. Prrrrr! In 2013 we left our nice life in beautiful Antwerp behind to make a fresh, exciting start in Düsseldorf. After two months of camping in a 20m² hotel room we've managed to settle into our own lovely apartment. Since we’re so excited about all the new adventures coming our way, we decided to share them with you. We also hope to hear your stories and maybe someday we’ll meet in this blasting world. Great having you here on our little virtual place. Jaf Jaf!   Would you like to contact us? Feedback, advertorial inquiries, questions or a cosy chat? Sounds great! Fill in the following form.
